Shearing Day. Master Blade Shearer, Kevin Ford, shearing my ewes as the snow starts coming down.  Kevin sheared for 4 hours as it got progressively colder and the snow deeper.

The girls waiting to be shorn.  The 7" of snow we received that day was so rare for us.  The humans enjoyed it but the sheep weren't too happy about it.  Luckily they have a nice dry shed with piles of hay to lie in, and two days later it was a sunny day in the high 40's.

Sheep #12?  Kevin warmed his hands up around a hot cup of tea midway through the morning.

I'm trying sheep coats for the first time in the hope that it will minimize the dreaded VM (vegetable matter) in my sheep's fleeces.  Hopefully just using coats the last 4 months before shearing will take care of most of the VM (from feeding hay.)  The girls show off their new look as they tuck into their morning grain.
